Hey guys! Somehow managed to wrestle this song away from Bob Dylan when he wasn't looking. It's about the difficulty we sometimes have, even in a wonderful relationship, with staying connected. Most of us have experienced this at one time or another. Clearly, finding a way to restore the old fire is key. Anyhow, I hope you like this one. I will definitely be recording this one soon! All the best...
Hello everyone! After months of procrastination, I'm finally processing and posting some of the best images taken during our Rocky Mountain excursion in 2015!!! I know, I know--better late than never, right? Anyhow, please stop by regularly, as there will be many updates from one of the most spectacular and scenic areas on Earth. And please, feel free to provide feedback about them in the comments section. Peace!
I was reminiscing the other day, and thought about the uncertainty and self-doubt that surrounded me just before making the fateful decision to move up to Canada and start a new life with my beloved Tamara. One thing led to another, I reached for my trusty guitar, and this is what came of it. Hope you enjoy it. Peace...
Had a blast playing at the Rusty Gull Pub last night. Thanks to Billy for setting everything up, the always-terrific Rusty Gull staff, and all the lovely folks who turned out to listen! Cheers!
The idea behind this song arose out of a minor spat I had with my partner. In the middle of it, I started to laugh, as I thought about how minor this would seem twenty years from now, looking back. So, after a few days of pondering that perspective, the lyrics began, little by little, to reveal themselves to me.
The music, on the other hand, involved a much longer process of discovery, refinement, practice, rinse, repeat. I'm just glad the lyrics lent themselves to this guitar work as they took shape. Hope you like it! Peace!
This was the very first song I wrote for my beloved Tamara. The prospect of living together in Canada was still many months away. What I didn't realize was that it would take nearly three years to finally compose the music for these lyrics. I hope for her sake and for anyhow who ventures a listen that it was worth the wait. Thanks for listening!
Like so many others, I was devastated to learn that David Bowie had passed. He mastered so many genres of music, and crafted several groundbreaking personae along the way, including Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, and The Man Who Fell To Earth, to name a few.
While so many artists seemed content to raise a finger to determine which way musical tastes were blowing, Bowie was always a step ahead, charting an unknown course and dancing to the beat of his own drum. Though some of his artistic forays were commercial failures, all of them were on the bleeding edge of musical expression and had immeasurable impact on the entire industry. His like will never come this way again, and he is sorely missed. Godspeed, Mr. Bowie, Godspeed.
Got a new one for you to start the year off right. It's a song of compassion, which the world certainly needs. While enjoying some of the more obscure tracks from Woody Guthrie's astonishing Library of Congress recordings, I was moved to write a Dust Bowl ballad of my own. Needless to say, I dedicate this song to the thousands of survivors who suffered those horrors, only to be ridiculed, exploited, and chastised upon their arrival out West. Also, here's to Woody Guthrie, the prairie poet who gave voice to their suffering. I couldn't ask for a better muse! Peace!
NOTE: This song was based on a previously-posted lyric called, "'Tween Somethin' And Nothin', which has been deleted since the new lyric is incorporated into this new song's page. Thanks!
Hi everyone! Yes, it's that time again: after an admittedly long lapse, I finally got to work on a new song. This song's about the breakup of a relationship and the unexpected strength and healing we sometimes discover in its aftermath. Hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed creating it. Cheers!
This track is dedicated to Kirsten. It is a song about being true to yourself, no matter the cost. It is also a song about love, and how meaningful it can be if you stick to your vision and never settle for less than your heart desires. I hope it moves you, and thanks for listening! Cheers!
