Something happened yesterday that hasn't happened in quite a while. I wrote a new song; and this one came to me almost wholesale. I think my best efforts are those that seem to drop into my lap, as if offered by a Muse of some sort. Forced results are seldom good ones. Happily, this one nearly wrote itself. Now, to discover some fitting music to accompany it. That can sometimes take a while. Hope you like this one. Peace...

Hey everyone! I know, I know: you were beginning to wonder if I'd succumbed to COVID, or was captured by aliens. Rest assured, neither rumour is true. But we have been very busy working on our farm, so music creation had to sadly take a backseat to well pump installation and tree planting. But the Muse visited me today and I was able to write a new song without too many life interruptions. So, the song is entitled, "Another Way," and the central idea of it is that we are all trapped within a society that is obsessed with keeping time, and gently suggests that we should measure life's passing by significant events instead. Anyhow, I enjoyed writing it, and I hope you enjoy reading it. Find it posted under the 'Lyrics' header. Cheers!
Hey everyone! No, I wasn't abducted by aliens, and I most certainly wasn't sold into bondage. Instead, I've been hard at work launching a new podcast entitled, "The Lighted Pathway."
My intention in this podcast is primarily to record the step-by-step establishment of a permaculture food forest farm on the five-acre parcel my wife and I just acquired in January of this year. It is a beautiful place, with a lovely mix of conifer and deciduous trees, a pre-dug well, and a fifth-wheel trailer where we can stay while working hard to create the rest with our bare hands and a few tools. Folks, this promises to be a wonderful eco-adventure full of positivity, wisdom, humour, and good cheer. We will also be taking field trips to B.C. businesses that support off-grid homesteading, organic gardening. and the like. Moreover, we will be interviewing some important luminaries in the field to keep things fresh, lively and informative. So take a moment to check out the podcast under the 'Podcast' tab above. I just posted the third episode, so it won't take long to get caught up. I try to post a new episode every Friday or so. I hope you will join us on our efforts to create the "little farm that could!" All the best and hope to hear from you in the comments section. Cheers! I debated whether to write this article for months before finally deciding to flesh it out. Like many, I've felt, since Trump's election, that a dark and foreboding shadow has fallen over American Politics. Nowadays, we find ourselves talking about versions of the truth, when once there was only one. Furthermore, Trump's dictatorial manner with the press has sadly spilled over and inspired members of Congress, as well.
Leaders who were once compelled to explain issues, even when it was uncomfortable, now simply make the retort, "Fake news!" and continue to their limos. I've now gotten over the shock of it all, and want to help navigate our way back to a semblance of civility. This article is but a first step in this effort. Enjoy! Hey guys! Somehow managed to wrestle this song away from Bob Dylan when he wasn't looking. It's about the difficulty we sometimes have, even in a wonderful relationship, with staying connected. Most of us have experienced this at one time or another. Clearly, finding a way to restore the old fire is key. Anyhow, I hope you like this one. I will definitely be recording this one soon! All the best...
Hello everyone! After months of procrastination, I'm finally processing and posting some of the best images taken during our Rocky Mountain excursion in 2015!!! I know, I know--better late than never, right? Anyhow, please stop by regularly, as there will be many updates from one of the most spectacular and scenic areas on Earth. And please, feel free to provide feedback about them in the comments section. Peace!
I was reminiscing the other day, and thought about the uncertainty and self-doubt that surrounded me just before making the fateful decision to move up to Canada and start a new life with my beloved Tamara. One thing led to another, I reached for my trusty guitar, and this is what came of it. Hope you enjoy it. Peace...
Had a blast playing at the Rusty Gull Pub last night. Thanks to Billy for setting everything up, the always-terrific Rusty Gull staff, and all the lovely folks who turned out to listen! Cheers!
The idea behind this song arose out of a minor spat I had with my partner. In the middle of it, I started to laugh, as I thought about how minor this would seem twenty years from now, looking back. So, after a few days of pondering that perspective, the lyrics began, little by little, to reveal themselves to me.
The music, on the other hand, involved a much longer process of discovery, refinement, practice, rinse, repeat. I'm just glad the lyrics lent themselves to this guitar work as they took shape. Hope you like it! Peace! This was the very first song I wrote for my beloved Tamara. The prospect of living together in Canada was still many months away. What I didn't realize was that it would take nearly three years to finally compose the music for these lyrics. I hope for her sake and for anyhow who ventures a listen that it was worth the wait. Thanks for listening!
