Biography

I grew up in Southern California, but moved to the Central Coast in 1980, while still in high school. It was a terrific place to live, but my sense of adventure got the better of me, so right after graduating high school I joined the U.S. Army.
My military career took me many places: Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and through it all, I was usually accompanied by my battered and beloved Takamine guitar. In fact, over the years, I somehow managed to write over fifty songs and even played a number of live gigs, both here and abroad.
In 1986, I left the Army to pursue college, first earning an A.A. from Cuesta College, and later, a B.A. in English from UC Berkeley. When I graduated, the country was in the middle of a recession. Married, and with a newborn, I returned to the only thing I knew: soldiering. Once I re-entered the Army, I served until 2005, when I decided to make a dramatic career change. I returned to school before working in psychiatric nursing for the State of California. Then, quite unexpectedly, I met my beloved Tamara online in 2012 and somehow found the courage to love again. That love brought me north to Vancouver, BC in 2013, where I have lived ever since.
Together, we have embarked on a journey of love, healing, laughter, and self-discovery. She is my divine counterpart, my best friend, and my heartsong. It is my greatest hope to share a well-lived, well-loved life with her until the end of days.
