Believe In Angels

Words & Music © 2015 Jeffrey E. McCaskill. All Rights Reserved.

Years ago, I hastily took a bride
I stayed the course, and my heart nearly died
I left one day with a wounded soul
And little hope I’d be made whole.

Had two fine boys that I too seldom see
They’re better men than I will ever be
I’m so proud of who they’ve become
I hope they’ll understand what I’ve done.

I struggled hard against the lonely gloom
Until I spied her from across the room
So much light and laughter there
I smiled and breathed her in like morning air.

I found the love that just might keep me young
Yeah, she’s the muse for every song unsung
I don’t deserve all the joy she brings
But still I hope one day she’ll wear my ring.

She took me in and then she held me tight
She shared her bed and then she shared her light
I found the peace I’d been searching for
Was there beside me, evermore.

Evermore…

Evermore.
