Finding Wings

Words & Music © Jeffrey E. McCaskill. All Rights Reserved.

Well, I haven’t heard a word
Since you flew off like a bird
Seeking shelter and a warmer clime to grieve in.

So you listened to your friends
And it brought about our end
Guess you had to choose a truth you could believe in.

CHORUS
But I’m okay, just a little light on love,
And a little more reluctant about dating
I must say, that I’ve got to find a way,
‘Cause I sadly still take comfort in the hating.

So, I guess I wish you well
I hear Phoenix can be hell
And the summer months are right around the corner.

Now, with one less heart to tend
Did you plan it at the end
Your escape without goodbye to somewhere warmer?

CHORUS
But I’m okay, just a little light on love,
And a little more reluctant about dating
I must say, that I’ve got to find a way,
How can I move on if I just keep on hating?

As for me, I’m heading north
Hope to fly out on the fourth
Guess I need the cold to chill the grief inside me

Seems the only way to go
Towards the wilderness I know
And the healing Mother Nature can provide me.

But I’m okay, just a little light on love,
And a little more reluctant about dating
I must say, that I’ve got to find a way,
Cause what good has ever come from all this hating?
