While so many artists seemed content to raise a finger to determine which way musical tastes were blowing, Bowie was always a step ahead, charting an unknown course and dancing to the beat of his own drum. Though some of his artistic forays were commercial failures, all of them were on the bleeding edge of musical expression and had immeasurable impact on the entire industry. His like will never come this way again, and he is sorely missed. Godspeed, Mr. Bowie, Godspeed.
Like so many others, I was devastated to learn that David Bowie had passed. He mastered so many genres of music, and crafted several groundbreaking personae along the way, including Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, and The Man Who Fell To Earth, to name a few.

Hey guys!
Got a new one for you to start the year off right. It's a song of compassion, which the world certainly needs. While enjoying some of the more obscure tracks from Woody Guthrie's astonishing Library of Congress recordings, I was moved to write a Dust Bowl ballad of my own. Needless to say, I dedicate this song to the thousands of survivors who suffered those horrors, only to be ridiculed, exploited, and chastised upon their arrival out West. Also, here's to Woody Guthrie, the prairie poet who gave voice to their suffering. I couldn't ask for a better muse! Peace! NOTE: This song was based on a previously-posted lyric called, "'Tween Somethin' And Nothin', which has been deleted since the new lyric is incorporated into this new song's page. Thanks! |
